Our greatest asset in west Tennessee is the Mississippi River. It affects our lives from food, art and culture to history and commerce. Here we are painting a picture of life in the counties along our river.
On Friday, February 15 through Saturday the 17th, Lake County hosted the first re-enactment of the Battle of Island #10. The re-enactment took place at the Reelfoot Airpark Inn, north of Tiptonville. The 15th Tennessee Infantry, known as the Madrid Bend Guards, hosted the unit. The re-enactment was a prelude to a celebration and unique water-based re-enactment scheduled for 2012, the 150th Anniversary of the historic battle.
The mission of the Mississippi River Corridor in Tennessee is to identify, conserve and interpret the region’s natural, cultural and scenic resources to improve the quality of life and prosperity in West Tennessee.
